Quick Review: The Four Agreements was recommended to my class by one of my favorite professors and coincidentally recommended to me by my father just days later. Rarely is a book recommended to me twice in such a short period of time so I figured I’d move it up on my reading list. Judging on the cover alone I was a little skeptical at first, however, after reading a couple pages I was convinced the book had some valuable insight to offer. In total the book is only seven chapters with four of those being the namesake agreements. Although the book has some self-help elements it was dramatically more simplified than typical self help books. Furthermore, it’s layout was to the point and cut the fluffy bullshit typical for most books in the genre. I really enjoyed how all four agreements were tied in with each other and how real world examples were given to demonstrate how each agreement is actually practiced outside of the text. Definitely not a book for everybody but those interested in self betterment, maximizing potential, and improving willpower will find the text especially interesting.
